Waterford Lakes, Florida
Waterford Lakes is a deed-restricted community of 25 subdivisions and more than 3,100 homes on 840 acres in east Orange County near the intersection of State Road 50 and Alafaya Trail, and less than four miles from University of Central Florida. In reality, Waterford Lakes is part of a burgeoning area that also encompasses numerous housing developments. Waterford Lakes isn’t a city, but thanks to its own stature and neighboring growth, it’s seemingly getting closer to that scope by the day.
Waterford Lakes Town Center is a sprawling, open-air shopping center that attracts shoppers from near and far with a broad mix of retailers and eateries amid landscapes, fountains and lakes. (413 N. Alafaya Trail, Orlando). The East Orlando Chamber of Commerce has big plans for Waterford Lakes and surrounding areas. The chamber’s vision for 2020 includes “265,000 residents and 80,000 employees moving easily from place to place, using a well-designed multi-modal transportation network, accessing the area’s key activity-centers at will.”
