Residents of Horizon West can look forward to the opening of a brand new library in the spring of 2025. Located at the Horizon West Regional Park, the library will feature a modern design spanning 20,000 sq ft and incorporating the best practices developed by OCLS over the years.

Visitors to the library can enjoy multiple meeting spaces that can be combined, providing ample room for various events and gatherings. With two 750 sq ft meeting rooms, one room 1,500 sq ft, and the ability to combine all three spaces, the library offers flexibility to accommodate a range of needs. In addition, the library will also feature two study rooms, two training rooms, and a media lab for technology use. These spaces are available for rent to OCLS library members, which is free for Orange County residents. The library also offers plenty of outlets and casual spaces for device charging and relaxation.

The library will be surrounded by Florida native landscaping, adding to its aesthetic appeal, and offer easy access to trails and park equestrian trails for outdoor recreational activities. The library even includes an outdoor stage for performances and events.

The library’s design is expected to be completed by the end of 2023, with construction starting in Spring 2024 and taking approximately 12 months to complete. The library will also be designed with sustainability in mind, with plans to add solar and EV charging infrastructure.

For added convenience, meeting rooms and restrooms will be accessible from the lobby, allowing for utilization outside of library hours. Additionally, a lactation room will provide a private and comfortable space for nursing mothers.

The library infrastructure also incorporates equestrian access for visitors, in accordance with the 2006 lease agreement with Conserv II. Furthermore, the infrastructure and parking lot have been designed to accommodate a YMCA or other recreational entity.

Overall, the new Horizon West library will offer visitors modern amenities, stunning surroundings, and ample opportunities for both indoor and outdoor activities. With a design that incorporates years of library staff experience, this new library will be a welcome addition to the community.
